The University of the South Pacific (USP) has entered into a corporate partnership with the Vanuatu Office of the Telecommunications and Radiocommunications Regulator (TRR) to assist law student development.
An MOU cementing the partnership was recently signed by the Regulator, Mr. Ronald Box, and Mr. Arthur Faerua, the USP Administrator of the Law Students Internship Program (LSIP).
As part of the MOU, TRR will provide workplace experience for successful law student interns. In addition, TRR will also apply its office rules on the student interns; nominate one of its officers to become the Contact Point in the office of TRR and to directly supervise the student interns.
During the signing of the MOU, Mr. Box expressed TRR’s pleasure in becoming the 11th Host Office of this USP Program. He emphasized the need for more lawyers specializing in regulatory work in Vanuatu, and expressed his hope that this partnership will pave a way for this need to be realized, particularly in building telecommunications regulatory expertise.
The LSIP Administrator will manage the application and selection of successful student interns, provide the work placement and evaluate and assess interns' performance.
