Diverse Contexts, Diverse Solutions: An Education Research Symposium
29 and 30 March, 2018, Suva, Fiji.
Theme: Diverse Contexts, Diverse Solutions.
School systems that disregard context cannot make context-specific improvements to student learning. Context can help us understand students better, help us frame learning, define and re-define success, and stimulate better teaching. In teacher education, context is crucial from course materials, teaching methodologies, the teaching environment, practicum attachments, to teachers being placed in schools throughout the region. Contexts are not static but fluid and dynamic. This makes it important to discuss, debate and understand differences in contexts but to also work together with others to appreciate the interconnectedness of contexts. This symposium recognizes that despite whatever subject, topic, system, school, institution, curriculum, methodologies, and so forth that you work with, they can be placed in a context and arenít context-free.
