One of the tasks of CRAU is to set up an archive for USP. This will be the permanent record of the university, which will ensure that the milestones of the Pacific’s only regional tertiary institution are recorded for later generations.
This project requires three main elements:
- Appraisal – archives must be carefully selected from the range of records in existence.
- Storage – an environmentally controlled space for keeping physical records and backed-up data stores for electronic archives
- Setup of collection control and descriptive systems
In 2011 the main focus of CRAU is introduction of electronic records management, and the Archives will depend on resources becoming available outside this project. USP is currently considering its strategy for records storage, and plans for the Archive will move in conjunction with this.
