On Friday 11th March 2011, the School of Tourism & Hospitality Management’s third year students toured P&O’s Pacific Jewel while it was docked in Suva Harbour. After passing security, the seventy-one students and four staff were able to tour the cruise ship looking at the different entertainment, activities and dining choices on board. The Pacific Jewel can host 1,950 passengers and offers such attractions as an amazing high-wire circus and trapeze arena on the top deck and the largest spa afloat in the southern hemisphere.
Staff and students were also given a behind-the-scenes look into the galley and crew accommodation and bar. A delicious three-course lunch was provided on board at the Waterfront Restaurant. P&O Cruises and STHM have developed a strong relationship over the years as P&O Cruises regularly participate in the STHM’s careers’ fair. The School looks forward to continuing to provide P&O Cruises with our high quality graduates that work on the ships.
