Abstract
In today’s world, leaders in business must be ready for change, as it is the only constant. But why is change so difficult? This session will address the challenges employees face when dealing with change, as well as models leaders can use to help usher employees through the change process. During the session, we will ask our expert how he leads change in his high tech, 500+ person agency, in a highly competitive and fast moving business environment.
Brief Profile of speakers
Alain J. Dias
Alain is the past Chief Operating Officer of Ascentium Corporation, one of the largest private digital marketing agencies in the United States. As COO, Alain played the role of change agent and leader to the 500+ employees in four national offices. Alain has worked for several companies throughout his career, from small entrepreneurial startups to large multinationals. For example, Alain worked for DPI (Decision Processes International) where he was a management consultant. As a management consultant, Alain traveled to all corners of the world and worked with companies to define their business strategy. Alain’s vast experience and leadership in a variety of industries make him a global business leader. Alain graduated with honors from Georgetown University, after moving from France to the United States.
Dr. Laura Portolese Dias
Laura is a professor of Business in Seattle, Washington USA. She has 12 years of graduate and undergraduate teaching experience, and prior to that worked for a large retail corporation. Besides teaching, Laura publishes extensively, most recently a Human Relations Management textbook, Human relations textbook and an Introduction to Business textbook. Laura’s work has also appeared in various academic journals. Laura has also been quoted in numerous publications and interviewed on radio talk shows such as National Public Radio for her expertise in consumer behavior. She earned her Doctorate of Business Administration in 2004, and her dissertation topic was in the area of consumer behavior, although she also took many management courses throughout her Doctoral program. Other research interests include entrepreneurship in developing countries, event marketing and multiculturalism.
