The Confucius Classroom at the USP Cook Islands Campus Celebrated Chinese Spring Festival of 2017

On 3rd of Feburary, the Confucius Classroom at USP Cook Islands campus celebrated Chinese New Year of 2017. More than 20 people participated in this cultural event. It began with the singing of Chinese song Happy New Year. The kids were lining up according to the sequence of 12 Chinese zodiac animals signs. This day was the Start of Spring festival. The Chinese teachers introduced one of the excellent example of Chinese Agricultural civilization, the 24 Solar Terms of China, which was newly added to the Intangible Cultural Heritage of the world. The teacher laid emphasis on the customs of the Start of Spring. Later on participants cut the Chinese character "Spring", kicked shuttlecock, unlocked the traditional Chinese games and entered prize competition on knowledge about USP Confucius Institute and China. They also tasted dumplings and spring rolls. The atmosphere of the celebration was warm and happy.
