Discussion: Request was made to SAS to start using the SMS Notification service and the RAs were told to work on a staff training plan for the Gradebook. Request was also made to update student numbers on the Banner and a promotion plan was drawn up for USP Open Day to promote the services.

Discussion: RAs were informed to start work on SMS Assessment Service and the progress of SMS grade-book was discussed. Training for staff on the use of SMS Notification was also discussed.

Discussion: Progress on the SMS Gateway was discussed along with the charges from Vodafone. SMS Gradebook and Assessment functionality were targeted for completion in Semester 1, 2012.

Discussion: Meeting was held with Oceanic in which they gave a presentation of the applications that they have developed. They demoed some SMS services and said that they would make a prototype for USP. Student SMS validation was also discussed.

Discussion: Recruitment of new RAs and the salary and contract of current RAs were discussed. Testing of SMS service with regional numbers was required and permission to buy new equipment such as an IPAD was given.

Discussion: Purchasing of tablets for the mlearning team and the progress on current SMS services were among the main discussion points. Problems/flaws within the service were also discussed and immediate action was required in consultation with Vodafone.

Discussion: The use of the gateway and the required training was discussed in addition to the progress on the on-going projects. Issues with the local network and the cost/student were also discussed.

Discussion: Details on the progress with the gateway was discussed along with selection of three RAs. Use of the SMS service by CFS was also discussed and a presentation was made on the first proposed mLearning project.

Discussion: Chair informed that mLearning has secured a good budget and the need to hire three RA’s. The need for our own SMS Gateway was discussed as well.

Discussion: Plans to introduce SMS Based services via Moodle were discussed along with the current system infrastructure and plans to work with Vodafone to introduce an interactive SMS Based Quiz.

Discussion: SMS broadcasting service was discussed and an agreement was signed between Vodafone and USP. Interactive SMS Based services such as quizzes and a system where parents can view their children’s grades were among the proposed projects.
