Project #2: Course database access via Mobile Web

Currently USP maintains an extensive on-line course database. This enables interested students and others to get information about courses they wish to do. The project aims at allowing existing and potential students access to the course database on mobile phones. It will be divided into two phases.

Phase 1: This part will focus on development of a sms based system which will facilitate a course’s information to be sent as sms. It is noted that there may be a lot of information on a course which may not be feasible to be sent as sms considering the limitation to the number of characters that can be used. To overcome this problem only essential information such as pre-requisites, modes of study, fee e.t.c will be sent.

Phase 2: The second part will focus on development of mobile web application that will allow the same information to be accessed on phones with internet browsing capabilities. The goal of this project is to provide information of the readily available and easily accessible mobile phones so that students can make informed decisions on their course choices.
