Currently the follows methods are used to conduct quizzes in class:
• In-class: Quizzes conducted as tests with a defined time period.
• Online: this is where students login to Moodle and attempt their quiz questions.
This happens in two ways:
1. Where the quiz opens for a short period of time usually during lab/tutorial classes.
2. Where the quiz is open for a longer period of time.
In both these cases, the student has to either be present in class or have access to a computer with internet access to be able to do this activity. The goal of this project is to see the development of quiz assessment system that will allow teachers to conduct quizzes in their subjects via sms and also receive responses from students via sms. The responses received will be graded and marks automatically awarded as per course policy. This system will be housed in and controlled from Moodle.
