To become an effective "project manager" requires proper and sound understanding of the theory and practical skills of project management. One must possess good grounding of the requisite management skills as they will directly contribute to the success or failure of your project. These are now available in this project management course from which you will master the techniques that help bring success to your projects. This course will provide you with a thorough understanding of why and how projects are managed and it begins with defining what physical elements comprise projects, the role of project managers, project life cycles and how can one sell projects. The course also includes setting of project goals, planning and scheduling using computers, budgeting and money management, risks management, HR management and presentation of business case studies for projects.
The aim of the course is to equip students/semi-professionals/professionals with an understanding of basic project management skills and concepts to enable practitioners in the field to deal with and solve management problems pertaining to projects.
The course is divided into six modules. The objectives of each module are outlined in detail at the start of each module. The inclusion of the objectives is geared towards informing and guiding participants on the breadth and depth of the coverage within the module and the management skills and competencies they will achieve upon completion of the module.
The structure of each module and the linkage of the different concepts within the module are provided in the concept map at the start of module. Prerequisite · Practicing project managers; potential project managers, project stakeholders, student of project management or · Certificate III or higher qualification
Interactive classes including lecture, discussions and tutorials will be conducted for 1 - 2 weeks for each module.
Assignments and a project will be established to encourage individual participation. Students will also be encouraged to share resources through this network to assist them in accomplishing their assigned tasks.
Student’s assessment is in two parts:
Learners’ competency assessment will be evidence-based and will incorporate assignments and class attendance.
