Quality Strategy - University of the South Pacific |
Background
In 2000, the University Council set-up a sub-committee called the Review Committee on the Future of USP to respond to challenges, especially socio-political conflicts that has a direct bearing on the future and survival of USP.
The committee produced a report titled A Regional University of Excellence, Weaving Past and Present for the Future – a vision for the year 2020, which is of the view that in order to ensure the future and survival of the university, the core principles of “quality and relevance” must be embraced to ensure USP is innovative and creative in its organisational structure and decision-making process; in its programmes of teaching, research and support services; and in its search for resources to undertake its task.
To support and propagate the core principles of “quality and relevance”, the Quality Strategy (QS) was produced in 2004.
Objective
The QS supports the mission and strategic direction of the University of the South Pacific as laid out in the Strategic Plan 2013-2018 in the design, implementation and continuous improvement of all the University’s processes and activities that ensure a quality learning environment. The QS identifies key quality goals for the University and outlines how these will be achieved.
