The Opportunity
The appointee will assist in the design and delivery of teacher education programs, provide advice to the 15 member countries of the Institute in all matters relating to curriculum development and literacy development at primary and secondary school level as well as advice regarding the integration of new materials that may include traditional knowledge, climate change education, ICT and TVET as required by each member country. You will participate in the design of short courses offered by the Institute and where appropriate assist in the delivery of such courses and supervise graduate students as well as teach education courses from time to time. The incumbent will represent the Institute at the regional and Institutional conference and will be encouraged by the Institute to publish scholarly as well as technical articles. You will be required to travel to member countries of the Institute.
The Person We Seek
To be considered for appointment you must have:
- A relevant PhD in Education, specializing in Curriculum development with strong back ground in literacy development for English and Pacific indigenous language
- At least 5 years of teaching experience at secondary or primary level and 10 years of extensive work experience in the Pacific region, in field of educational development
- Demonstrated ability to design and write course materials and produce learning resources for a range learning abilities using a range of delivery modes
- Experience with curriculum development for at least one Pacific Island country
- Fluency in one pacific language and in English
- Good ICT skills especially the working knowledge of MIS and Banner Systems
To be considered for appointment at Band 4 salary scale, applicants must have extensive relevant experience or management experience and prove management expertise.
Preference will be given to candidates with a demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure and in a multi - cultural context, are highly skilled in report writing and are confident public speakers.
Renumeration
The position is available for a term of three years and may be renewed by mutual agreement.
Salary Range(Inclusive of 15% gratuity):Band 3 TOP$65,109 to TOP$85,671 per annum
Band 4 TOP$88,330 to TOP$101,920 per annum
