It provides you with many opportunities socially and through education. Being a student at USP Tonga Campus is a blessing because in my experience, Tonga is the Best campus.  I have experienced many things in this campus. “I have been a student at the USP Tonga Campus for more than a year now. I have come to grow attached to it. The friendliness of the staff and students, not forgetting the clean and beautiful environment of the campus. Our Campus here in Tonga is not that fancy and big in comparison to the Laucala Campus however we students make the most of it and make it enjoyable and a stress free environment given the high pressure of being a university student.

Most of the courses that are offered here in the Tonga Campus are Distance Flexible Learning (DFL). This allows us students to have spare time for a part time job if needed. Even though being a DFL student has its challenges, we cannot have the benefit of face to face class discussions with our lecturer and those benefits that face to face students are enjoying. However we can still participate through our satellite sessions and I and many other students believe that it is a very effective way for us as DFL students. Obviously it cannot be like the real time class room that other face to face students enjoy but it is close enough for us here in Tonga and some students also consider it a better way of learning as it takes off the pressure of facing the lecturer.

In my spare time I would either go to the library as many of the students do. Browse the variety of academic books or use the internet there, or just relax under the trees around the campus. Another favourite spot for us students would be the cafeteria, we could sit around there and enjoy some cake or as we Tongans call it keke with a cup of cold drink and a nice relaxing conversation with other students. Sometimes at the evening after class we boys, could have a little exercise with a friendly game of touch rugby and just enjoy the cool air of the evening.

In this past year of my time here at the USP Tonga Campus I would say that it has been a very enjoyable experience. Not only with classroom activities and programmes but also in other extra-curricular activities that I have joined in. Our Campus may not be the fanciest in the region but I can promise anyone who wants to visit, the friendliness and the environment are epic.”

“Firstly, it offers a wide range of subjects or courses such as Law, Economics and such for an individual’s choice. . Those courses can be helpful in deciding what they want to pursue in future careers .Another is which provides students opportunities to travel abroad for educational projects, for instance the JENESYS PPROJECT 2.0 gives students an opportunity to engage in an exchange program to Japan. Secondly, the campus is located in an isolated environment which helps students undertake their studies without distractions, resulting in students reaching their full potential academically. For instance USP is allocated in the rural side of the island (Tonga) which lacks noise pollution.  And it’s the ONLY university level offered in Tonga which can equip and prepare a student to accomplish their future goals.”

As a 1st year Bcom Student in the USP Tonga Campus I would say it’s a blessing and also a demanding time in my life. Since, I entered USP Tonga Campus, I was mostly confused and lost in searching and attempting to use or learn about MOODLE. I was surprised at first when i heard about this webpage because I've never heard of it before. So i spent a lot of my time in my first semester here trying to familiarize with the school webpage and it was very interesting.:). I also tried to befriend my classmates because when I entered I did not really know anyone, but with the help of a kind and loving tutor I feel at home and have the courage to stand up for what I believe, to study hard, not to be shy to ask questions so as to say I have developed confidence in myself. I really enjoy coming to school here at the USP Tonga Campus, because the staff here are so kind and loving, I feel welcome and the students also are a really great influence when it comes to group study and helping each other out with questions.”

As an undergraduate student at USP I have accessibility to an extensive range of experiences in terms of social and academic development.  This institution has opened up vast opportunities for us students to excel in our career paths.  The chance of getting to cooperate with senior students and in an environment which is conducive to learning is indeed a great privilege.  In terms of empowering future career opportunities, USP is the appropriate institution for secondary school leavers.

USP offers various courses starting from its open schooling system to postgraduate studies.  Secondary students who failed form 5, 6 and 7 still have a chance to complete their studies at USP.  Courses offered here are compatible with what we have learned in high school; therefore our brothers and sisters in secondary high schools have a place in the USP, Tonga Campus.

LOUINA FOLOSI O MAAMAMOONI LAULAUPEAALU

USP is known as the best university all around the Pacific region. As a first year student, I believe that it is true. Having to enter at first, the atmosphere and the place itself did feel a little weird, but after getting used to the place, it turned out to be a very calm and quiet environment. This type of environment is good for students to study in because it is safe to say that there are fewer distractions.  Since USP is located in the Far East side of the island, or in the rural area, it is quiet with less noise pollution and people. There are also lots of little places around the school that are quiet and good for groups of friends or people to study. So, we students are able to focus more with our studies and concentrate in doing assignments and labs on time. This is one of the greatest advantages of this university so that students can have more opportunity to presume what they want for further studies and their future careers. Also, in USP, more time is given to students for the completion of their assignments and labs. Having only one or two classes in a week, there is more time available to study and complete them instead of rushing them.

Secondary students should really consider USP because not only do they provide a good environment; they provide a wide range of courses for undergraduates and high school graduates to choose from depending on what they want to pursue in their studies. It gives them an opportunity to continue their studies abroad. Also students who did not finish their form 5, 6 and 7, have the opportunity to finish those levels in USP. So USP brings vast chance to students in education.

KALESITA MATEAKI AHIO

As a first year student currently studying in USP, Tonga Campus, I strongly recommend secondary level students to enroll in this university. USP offers a variety of courses enabling one to achieve with qualifications for their future career and for some, advise one on what career to look at. Apart from its academic benefits, USP, Tonga Campus holds a fine reputation of supportive & encouraging deans and staff members whom help students achieve their goals of which they pursue, for instance before the semester begins students are given opportunities to meet and speak with administrators about the courses they wish to take. USP is allocated in an isolated environment, in the rural areas of the Island, thus I believe gives students a great opportunity to achieve in their studies with their full potential, due to the lack of distractions and noise pollution permitted on and around the campus.

USP welcomes new students and visitors with open arms, for instance every year the university student committee holds a welcoming which allows new students to interact with other students who’ve been in the University for 2 years or more. Having the university, a university of the Pacific, USP is multi cultured and respects the cultural differences ethically to a high extent. Therefore I recommend secondary level students who are looking at pursuing further studies to enroll for USP.

As a student currently enrolled in Tonga’s Campus, USP, I encourage students to partake in this university too. Courses that are given to students here are in a variety for students to choose from, and there is support from the tutors and the staffs to help guide you in your courses. They are more than willing to help you decide and plan out you courses, so your vision for your future career is clearer and achievable. USP is also a fun and easy environment to study in, and because USP students are mostly from the pacific, USP is rich with students with different culture backgrounds, which lets other students aware and respect these culture differences. For my experience as a first year student at the University of the South Pacific, I think the university provides a great learning environment with friendly staff at the office as well as dedicated and hard working lecturers. I enjoy all the classes I am enrolled in for the first semester. Students are friendly and helping and the campus is a cool place to hang out at when your taking breaks from class or having lunch at the Sunshine cafeteria.

I would highly recommend the University of the South Pacific to secondary students especially those currently doing their seventh form at high school to enrol and learn more about the University of the South Pacific because it is globally recognised and it provides a great and positive learning environment. The university also offers classes for the levels of form 5 and form 6 so there is an opportunity here for students who might think that they don't stand a chance anymore, the University provides the chance for these students to move further with their students and make a second go at what they had missed. So make sure you consider the University of the South Pacific as one of your options for fulfilling your studies and undertaking further and higher level of education. In addition to that, tuition fees are also very acceptable and affordable.

LATAISIA LATA I SIA OLA VETE

I am a 2nd year student at the University of the South Pacific Vava'u campus. Being a USP student it is a pleasant, at the same time it is a excellent step to University life of self-determination. It is my inspiration but really a second home that treat me similarly in every way.

University of the South Pacific offers the same course that available at the main campus in Fiji. Also you can find it cheaper here then migrating to the main campus.
