Agriculture

At the campus, staff and students engage themselves in agricultural activities.  With assistance from other stakeholders in Tonga, the campus has a plantation with taro, corn, water melons, and bananas.  These crops will be sold to help the Campus Student Fees Assistance Programme.

Staff members have a plantation of yams, where each staff has a plot to plant yams. Weeding of the each plot is the responsibility of each staff member and this has become an important healthy exercise activity after work, particularly for our male staff members. Staff’s family members also help out on Saturday with the planting and the weeding of the yams plantation.

There is also a green house built at the back of the campus. Four students are working on a Organic Vegetables project as part of the Business Challenge for Tertiary Institutions in Tonga. This Business Challenge is funded by the Tonga Chamber of Commerce. Students received a seeding grant to begin their Organic Vegetable business.
