Day 1

Day 1

Tuesday 13th August 2013

8.00am- Employers arrive and set up booths at Upper and Lower Library Rara grounds

8.30am - Registration of Employers/Businesses at Upper and Lower Library Rara grounds

8.45am - Students will assemble at Career Center Booth (Booth number 1, at Upper Library Rara) to collect Careers Fair Booklet)

9.00am- Career Exposition starts at the Library Grounds.

9.00am- 11.00pm -Faculty Focus Sessions. Faculty of Business and Economics. Venue - Japan Pacific ICT Multipurpose Theatre.

11.00am- Entrepreneurs Presentation at Japan Pacific ICT Multi-Purpose Theatre. Session features 4 entrepreneurs of different business background.

11.15am - Mr. Wah Sing – How He Started his Business.

11.40am - Mrs. Wati Tabuyaqona – Indoor Dining and her business experiences.

12.00pm- 12.30pm Refreshments

12.40pm - Mrs. Bernadette Rounds- Fiji Handicraft and how the Organization was started.

1.00pm- National Centre for Small Micro-Enterprise Development Presentation on Start up Business Requirements and loans for Income Generating Projects.

1.20pm- Naziah Ali – Mai Life Magazine Editor/Publisher and Fashion designer

1.45pm- Question and Answer Sessions

2.00pm– 4.00pm Faculty Focus Sessions. Faculty of Science, Technology and Environment at Japan Pacific ICT Multi-Purpose Theatre. 

4.00pm- Close of the Careers Exposition at the Grounds

6.00pm- Screening movie - Japan Pacific ICT Multi-Purpose Theatre.

9.00am-11.00am Faculty Focus Sessions. Venue – Japan Pacific ICT Multi-Purpose Theatre. Faculty of Arts and Law.

11.00am- Employer and Corporate/Organization Presentation on Employment Opportunities for students. Venue – Japan Pacific ICT Multi-Purpose Theatre

11.15am- Public Service Commission - Employment Opportunities with the Civil Service and Graduate Attributes. Venue – Japan Pacific ICT Multi-Purpose Theatre.

11.50am- Reserve Bank of Fiji, Graduate Attributes in the Corporate Sector

12.30pm – 1.00pm – Refreshments

1.15pm- Fiji National Provident Fund- Graduate Requirements for employment opportunities with FNPF

1.50pm-   KPMG – Graduate Attributes in the Corporate Sector

2.30pm- Question and Answer Sessions

3.00pm- End of Employer Presentations.

4.00pm - Close of the 2 days Careers Exposition at the Grounds

    Will Smith stars in this moving tale inspired by the true story of Chris Gardner, a San Francisco salesman struggling to build a future for himself and his 5-year-old son Christopher (Jaden Smith). When his girlfriend Linda (Thandie Newton) walks out, Chris is left to raise Christopher (Jaden Smith) on his own. Chris' determination finally pays off when he lands an unpaid internship in a brutally competitive stockbroker-training program, where only one in twenty interns will make the cut. But without a salary, Chris and his son are evicted from their apartment and are forced to sleep on the streets, in homeless shelters and even behind the locked doors of a metro station bathroom. With self-confidence and the love and trust of his son, Chris Gardner rises above his obstacles to become a Wall Street legend.

USP Careers Fair 2013 – Take a Step into the Known

The University of the South Pacific (USP) is organizing its first comprehensive Careers Fair in August, for all of its Laucala-based students. The program will include lunch-time seminars on career choices, starting your own business and more.  The Careers Fair will be an opportunity for students who are enrolled at USP, to meet with employers and entrepreneurs who have been invited to participate in this exposition. This opportunity will greatly enhance their future employment prospects with employers and create entrepreneurship opportunities for students who are thinking of venturing into a business of their own.

The Careers Fair will be launched on the evening of Monday 12th August, 2013 at the University of the South Pacific, Oceania Centre, Performance Space. The exposition proper will be from 9.00 am-4pm on Tuesday 13th August to Wednesday 14th August, 2013 at the main USP library grounds.

There will be representatives from Employers and Corporate Agencies at the Careers Fair who will:
