USP Internet Quota Allocation

The allocation of quotas to staff and students is a mechanism by which the University manages access and use of the Internet. The University allocates additional quota amounts for courses with additional  Internet activity requirements.

  • The use of the University Internet sites does not count against these quotas.
  • Sites that are deemed educational or relevant to a particular course can be submitted by the course coordinators to the helpdesk for exemption from the USP Internet quota system.
  • Leftover quota's from the current month will not be added onto the new months internet quota
  • Analysis of Internet download statistics indicate that assigned internet quota allocated is sufficient for research, teaching and learning. However, Internet traffic will continue to be monitored and the University provided quotas will be increased where necessary
  • Internet usage by staff & students are logged for USP reporting
