For the second consecutive year, the University of the South Pacific Lautoka Campus was awarded for collecting the highest number of blood units in the tertiary category for the Western Division.
The award was presented during the World Blood Donor Celebrations, held at the Gatward Park in Korovou Town on the 15th June, 2013. This is an annual event, celebrated in the country and worldwide that acknowledges the generous contribution of blood donors.
The international theme for this year’s celebration, ‘Blood Donation Is the Gift that Saves Lives’ recognizes the importance of saving someone’s life by donating blood.
Each year the awards are presented to institutions/organizations in five categories and three separate divisions namely Western, Eastern/Central and Northern, to honor and thank them for their efforts in collecting blood by organizing blood drives.
The USP Lautoka Campus was the winner in the Tertiary category in the Western Division for the second time for collecting a total of 93 pints of blood through its drive campaign in Lautoka City in the year 2012.
The Campus’ Blood Drive Committee participated in the celebration function to humbly accept the award on behalf of the Lautoka Campus.
