The University of the South Pacific Lautoka Campusí Student Association (USPSA) successfully conducted its student council election to elect its office bearers for another year-term.
Students showed up in large numbers at the Campus on Tuesday, 30th April to place their votes and give their support to the candidates nominated by the students themselves.
The Pacific Alliance Party scooped three major seats. Nitin Singh of The Pacific Alliance Party got re-elected as President of USPSA Lautoka, in a very fierce competition. His fellow party members Anaseini Conivanua and Adi Tupou were declared the Vice-President and Secretary respectively.
Kristina Crystal from the ASAP Party was elected the Assistant Secretary while six other members of the Association were elected unopposed.
The Returning Officer for the 2013 elections was Campusí Accountant Arunesh Chandra.
USPSA Federal Council Secretary General Akmal Khan was at the election to ensure it was conducted fairly.
Mr Khan said he hoped that whoever got elected was a proactive leader and had the best interest of the USPSA at heart.
He said it was heartening to know that students were taking interest in the affairs of the Campus which was apparent in the high number of students voting this year.
