It was an entertaining and fun-packed day for students and staff of USP Lautoka Campus and their families who participated in the USP Family Fun Day on Saturday, 1st September, 2012.
This year’s event, which was held at the Natabua High School grounds, featured a more interesting variety of games, fun activities and competitions for both adults and children.
The day began with lively Zumba exercises led by a USP student, followed by coconut scraping competition for students, apple eating competition for younger children, mixed netball volley ball and mixed soccer tournaments. There was also sack race and water balloon game competitions for both students and children as well as the tug-of-war competition. Carom board was also available for those who wanted to engage in a friendly match with their friends.
Another highlight of the day was the free face-painting available for the children and students and staff of the campus, which added more colour and fun to the atmosphere. The painting was expertly done by the USP student Brittany Verma who was kept busy all day long.
While everyone was encouraged to participate in the activities, those who opted to remain as spectators were kept entertained throughout the day as there was always something exciting to watch.
The participants were provided with refreshments and lunch. The day concluded with mixed relay race competitions.
The Family Fun Day event is organized once annually so the USP students, staff and their families can get together and simply have a relaxing, fun-filled day. It is a perfect day to break away or just spend quality time with fellow students, colleagues and family whilst have a jolly good day.
The Organizing Committee Chairman of this year’s event, USP Lautoka Campus’ Student Academic Services Coordinator Joseva Veresi acknowledged the support and participation of USP staff and students.
“Your presence greatly added to the success of this year’s event and I am sure you all had a fun and enjoyable day,” said Mr Veresi.
