The University of the South Pacific Lautoka Campus was transformed into a colourfully vibrant atmosphere as students and staff dressed up in traditional Indian attire for the Diwali celebration.
Organized by the Campus and its students association, USPSA, the function was held at the Campus on Wednesday, 30th October.
The staff and students from all ethnic and religious groups made special efforts to dress up for the occasion to join their Hindu colleagues in celebrating the Diwali festival that is celebrated globally every year.
The programme featured dance items and drama beautifully enacted/performed by the Campus students. There were also Indian-Fijian fusion dance performed by the Indo-Fijian and Fijian students, who completely rocked the stage.
Prizes were also presented to the best dressed male and female student as well as the three winners of the Rangoli Competition. The presentation was done by Campus Director Dr Pramila Devi.
Dr Devi said such events reinforced the Campusí commitment towards promoting multiculturalism in the USP community. She said she was pleased with the interest shown by both staff and students in these cultural events.
The programme concluded with distribution of sweets and lunch for students and staff.
