mLearning Workshop 2013

On January 16th and 17th, 2014, USP mLearning hosted a one and a half day workshop at Pearl South Pacific Resort in Pacific Harbour. The workshop was funded from the USP mLearning 2013 Budget. The workshop focused on the following:

  • Ways to improve mLearning's current services and projects
  • Reaching out to the regional campuses
  • Student feedback from 2013 surveys
  • Projects to undertake in 2014
  • How the Faculties/Sections/Departments can utilize mLearning services
  • Promotional activities
  • Support by external partners mainly Vodafone and Digicel in 2014

 

The workshop was attended by a total of 15 participants. The participants were Dr. Bibhya Sharma, Varunesh Rao, Rona Finiasi, Raneel Kumar, Timothy Tuivaga, Seone Leone, Jay Raj, Ravitesh Kumar, Hasmukh Lal, Dennis Sen, Neil Sharma, Sheraaz Buksh, Ranjana Lal and Keshni Devi.

USP mLearning Workshop: Designing & Developing Android Applications

The mLearning team conducted a 3 - day workshop on Android application development for a group of 2nd and 3rd year Computing Science and Information Systems students. The workshop was held on the 10th, 11th and 12th September 2013 at a Teaching Lab in the ICT Building. The students received a certificate for their efforts at the end of the workshop. The workshop was facilitated by mLearning team members: Varunesh Rao, Sanjeet Chand, Rona Finiasi, Shelvin Chand and Raneel Kumar.

  • Introduction to Android
  • Development Tools
  • Creating a Basic Android App
  • Creating an Interactive Android App
  • HTTP Connection with Android
  • Android & Database
  • Signing the Android App followed by
  • Student Group Exercise & Presentation
