Name : Casper Supa

Country of Origin : Solomon Islands

Programme : Bachelor in Tourism and Hospitality Management 2008

What made you choose this field of study? Tourism is one of the emerging and potential industries throughout the pacific region that will bring in foreign investment, economic growth, tax revenues to respective governments, countries and to help people who are directly or indirectly involved in the tourism industry. Seeing this potential, i decided to study tourism.

Briefly describe your student life? I have a lot to value during my student life especially the tourism field trips to resorts in Fiji to resorts to experience first hand about the tourism industry, Open Day.

What are you doing now? I am currently coordinating a Regional Climate Change and Food Security Project that is being implemented by the Solomon Islands Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, Disaster Management and Meteorology [MECDM] together with the Research Department from the Ministry of Agriculture.

How did studying at USP help with your work today? Studying in a regional institution like USP with students of different backgrounds prepares me well for the professional environment. I am also putting to good use other areas of tourism that I learnt including marketing, customer service, time management and Public Relations.

Any other comments. Looking back on my studies at USP, I realized that the curriculum I studied is very relevant in my work today. Thank you USP.
