FCS Officers Training -  USP Labasa Campus

Labasa based Fiji Correctional Service (FCS) Officers Make the Most of Community Outreach Programme

The Fiji Correctional Service officers of Labasa had an enlightening experience with the facilitators during the Community Outreach programme organised by USP Labasa Campus. This was held from the 6th to the 12th of November 2014 from 5.30- 7.15pm. The program aimed at educating the participants on basic computer skills including MS Word, MS Excel and MS Power point  exercises. The facilitators tested their typing and formatting skills plus way around the three applications. It was important to train or inform them about the three applications (Word, Excel, Power point) because Microsoft Office is being used prominently at USP and major workplaces in Fiji. The participants were also given an opportunity to browse the internet and access internet from the computer. The importance of computer literacy for higher education was highlighted as computers are being utilized for typing of assignment, research purposes, distance and online study and collaboration. The officers were overwhelmed by the knowledge and skills they acquired during this workshop. Many were eager and excited to get admitted to one of the computer courses mainly certificate in IT (CIT) and advance certificate in IT (ACIT) offered in December. Overall, the workshop was very productive and educational.
