USP Lautoka Campus’ blood drive campaign got off to a good start this year with 38 pints of blood collected during a blood drive in Lautoka on 07 June.
At least 114 lives can be saved from this blood donation, organized by USP Lautoka Campus, as part of its Campus Life Programme, which is aimed at giving back to the community.
USP Lautoka’s Blood Drive Organising Chairperson Upendra Kumar said even though the business community had their blood drive just two days earlier, where most of regular blood donors had donated, a good number of donors showed for this worthy cause.
“It was good to see our students also donating blood and I would like to thank them, our staff, our three security guards and other members of the public for their generous contribution,” he said.
Mr Kumar said the Campus was planning on organising another blood drive in early September.
He said he received positive feedback from donors who expressed their preference in donating through such blood drives rather than going to the hospital.
