People in huge number turned up at the USP Lautoka Campus Director’s morning walk on Saturday, 27th September.
The walk was part of the Campus’ Health and Wellness Program that aims at fostering a healthier living amongst the staff and students of the university as well as other members of the community. This also reflects USP’s commitment towards enhancing health and wellness within the university community.
Campus Director Dr. Pramila Devi and Campus’ Advisory Committee Chairperson Rajneesh Charan were amongst those who took the 6 kilometres walk.
The enthusiastic participants promptly showed up ahead of time and joined in the warm up exercises before taking the walk that commenced from and ended at Shirley Park in Lautoka.
A cheerful and lively mood prevailed throughout the event even though a majority of participants had taken up the walking challenge for the first time.
Following the walk, the participants were invited to take free medical check-up, also organised by the Campus’ as part of its Health and Wellness Program. Most of the participants took advantage of this offer.
Some of the things they were examined for were their height, weight, sugar level and blood pressure. Medical professionals also offered nutritional advice to those interested.
Dr Devi said it was encouraging to see over 130 people registering for the walk.
“We are planning on conducting another such event over next two months and hope to see more people joining us for this healthy cause,” she said.
