Students who have already completed the requirements for either a BA or an LLB degree are not eligible to be admitted to the combined BA/LLB programme. Instead, BA graduates can seek admission to the LLB under the graduate admission clause, and LLB graduates can seek admission to a BA degree and apply for up to 10 cross-credits.
Similarly, students who have already completed the requirements for either a BCom or an LLB degree are not eligible to be admitted to the combined BCom/LLB programme. Instead, BCom graduates can seek admission to the LLB under the graduate admission clause, and LLB graduates can seek admission to a BCom degree and apply for up to 10 cross-credits.
In the BA component students can choose from the following majors: Admission Requirements: | Persons are eligible to be admitted to study for the Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws combined degree if they have: - passed a Senate-recognised Form 7 examination or equivalent and have 60% or equivalent in English in that examination, or
- admission with standing.
| Programme Requirements: | - The Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws each consist of 35 courses, of which 14 courses are towards the BA component, and 21 courses are towards the LLB component
- The BA component has either:
- a single major structure
- conforming to the BA requirements for a single major in one of the allowed disciplines; and
- elective courses from those allowed for the Bachelor of Arts degree to make up the total of 14 for the BA component;
or
- a double major structure
- conforming to the BA double major requirements for majors in each of two of the allowed disciplines; and
- elective courses from those allowed for a Bachelor of Arts degree to make up the total of 14 for the BA component.
- The LLB component has:
- 20 compulsory LW courses of the LLB, and
- one elective LW course
- Students must complete the BA component before attempting any 200-level LW courses
