Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Computing Science

Special Admission Requirements:

Students majoring in Computing Science who were admitted to a BA programme on the basis of:

  1. From a senate-recognised Form 7 or equivalent examination, a person shall have achieved 60% or equivalent in mathematics in that examination; or
  2. USP Foundation Programme results must be a C+ in the courses MAF11, MAF12 and a pass in CSF12

Special Programme Requirements

Students taking a single major in Computing Science should normally have two minors.

Courses for a Single Major:

MA111, MA161, CS111, CS112, UU100, UU114, CS211, CS/IS222; plus CS215 or CS240; plus CS214 (elective), UU200, UU204; plus

Courses for a Double Major:

MA161, CS111, CS112, UU100, UU114, CS211, CS/IS222; plus CS215 or CS240;  plus UU200, UU204, CS311; plus CS310 or CS340; plus CS317 or CS324.

Courses for a Minor:

CS111, CS112, CS211, CS311; plus one of: CS310, CS340, CS317, CS324.

NOTE: There are two streams for the Computing Science single and double major:

  • Software Engineering - students must take CS240, CS340 and CS324.
  • Data Communication and Networks - students must take CS215, CS310 and CS317.
