CFL runs more Turnitin awareness sessions for Faculty

FBE Turnitin Awareness session 6th July, 2017

The Centre for Flexible Learning (CFL) ran further Turnitin awareness sessions for the Faculty of Arts, Law and Education (FALE) and the Faculty of Business and Economics (FBE) in July. The sessions focused on:

  • Identifying the key features of the Turnitin similarity report;
  • Correctly interpreting similarity scores; and
  • Identifying common strategies used by students to bypass Turnitin.

A total of 51 participants attended the sessions since the first one was held back in May. Feedback received from the participants was generally favorable and discussions centered on the misconceptions of Turnitin and correctly interpreting Turnitin scores. It was evident that various levels of understanding existed on the use of Turnitin and participants welcomed the need for greater awareness and encouraged the sharing of best practices.
