USP Entrepreneurial and Career Fair 2016 “Entrepreneurship and Employability”

The University of the South Pacific (USP) is organizing its Entrepreneurial and Career Fair from the 18th -22nd April, 2016 for all of its Laucala-based students. The program will include lunch-time seminars on career choices, starting your own business and more.

The Careers Exposition with Employers will be held at the Student Car park from 9am-4pm (Opposite the Australia Pacific Lecture Theatre, on Tuesday 19th April, 2016 to Wednesday 20th April, 2016. There are 60 major employers invited for this significant event. Their roles are to:

  • To answer specific questions about jobs, internships and placements, careers and career pathways
  • To distribute pamphlets and brochures to students
  • To cover the two days of the Fair
  • To present briefly (10 minutes) to students  on Job Application Procedures and Policies, Current Employment Opportunities and the attributes that organizations want our graduates to have if they are to succeed in their organization.

There will also be a Job Seeking Skills Workshop for graduating students to make them more competitive in the employment market.

As part of the USP Entrepreneurial and Career Fair 2016, an Entrepreneurial Workshop (Small Business Incubator Workshop) will also be conducted for students to create entrepreneurial awareness and make them more enterprising in creating employment.

The focus of this year’s entrepreneurial awareness is on restaurant services/food management/catering services and to complement this focus we are inviting successful entrepreneurs in the restaurant services/food management/catering services sector to do presentations to students who may be interested to venture into this field. This also complements the work done by USP’s Pacific TAFE School of Tourism and Hospitality.
