External Network and Membership

The higher education landscape has changed dramatically over the last decades and has become more global than ever before. There are more demands for an educated labour population to meet the growing needs of the countries and higher education institutions have had to respond quickly and effectively. Distance learning and the use of technology have become increasingly more important for higher education in the USP region. All these have thrust the need for the University to continuously seek support to improve and strengthen its quality assurance processes. USP is member to external groups of various kinds and its membership is usually voluntary rather than mandatory. Some examples of institutions that USP subscribes to are: Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), Academic Quality Agency for New Zealand Universities (AQA NZ). USP is also a member of two reputable quality assurance agencies in higher education and these are:

International Network of Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education (INQAAHE)

A global network of higher education quality assurance agencies established in 1991, numbering some 200 organisations active in the theory and practice of quality assurance in higher education, and

          Asia-Pacific Quality Network (APQN)

An organisation that serves the needs of quality assurance agencies in higher education in a region that contains over half of the world's population.

The only mandatory registration that is mandatory for USP is with higher education national commissions in the University region where these agencies are operational.
