External Quality Audits

USP is a self- accrediting institution (SAI) and undertaking an External Quality Audit allows the University to assess the extent to which it is “fit for purpose” and is achieving its Vision, Mission, Goals and Objectives. External audits are generally whole-of- institution audits based on an initial self-assessment and thereafter a site visit by a panel of auditors. External audits are evidence based and assist the university in determining changes for improvement and the way forward.

External audits are conducted on a five yearly rolling schedule in an area that is determined by the auditing agency. The first external audit was conducted jointly in 2008 by the then Australian Universities Quality Audit (AUQA) and New Zealand Universities Academic Audit Agency (NZUAAU). In 2013 the Academic Quality Agency for New Zealand Universities (AQANZ) undertook the second external audit. There is a preparation for Cycle 6 Audit which will be taken place in 2018 or 2019.
