Biography

Featured in the xyht magazine, for 40 under 40 (2017) youths making a difference in geospatial and land industry, Chethna has a diverse working experience following her involvement with academic, private sector, government and civil society organizations. She joined the University in 2013 as a graduate assistant, completing her Masters through research in Framework for spatial economic modelling in allocation of rural agricultural land: A case study of representative Nadroga farms, Fiji”. With a double gold medalist from her undergraduate degree program.

Chethna is the course coordinator for two core units of the Land Development and Management degree program. As an academic and consultant Chethna earnestly utilizes her advisory, managerial, strategic planning and interpersonal skills to benefit mutual growth and success in research, application and negotiation fields of sustainable development, and spatial economics. Chethna is dynamic and provides quality education of the highest order. Chethna is a delegate of the International Federation of Surveyors (FIG) Commission 2 of Academic Members Forum. She is also associated with the FIG Young Surveyors Network and Academic Member of the International Academic Association on Planning, Law, and Property Rights.

  1. Spatial economics analysis of urban and rural socio-economic sectors;
  2. Sustainable development and natural resource management: Policies, tools, techniques and negotiation process;
  3. Urbanization: Urban poverty and climate change adaption
  4. Resilient and inclusive cities and communities;
  5. Green growth of cities beyond the urban economic models;
  6. Land tenure, development and management policies: Fit for purpose approach to policies.
