W
ith USP’s assistance, the South Pacific Computer Society for the first time ever delivered Free computer short courses to high s
chool students during the 2 weeks holidays. On Saturday the 25th August 2012, basic Microsoft Word & Excel 2010 was taught for a 1 day ICT awareness workshop.
This was made possible through the generous sponsorship from the School of Computing under Faculty of Science & Technology, USP.
Despite the Northern festival starting the same day, the turnout of 18 students and 2 teachers was great and a lot of good feedbacks were received from students and teachers alike. They appreciated this computer literacy initiative and specially the fact that the northern school students were not forgotten for this event.
Students came from various secondary schools in North like Labasa Sangam, Labasa Muslim, Khalsa College, All Saints Secondary, even from Seaqaqa Secondary. This shows how well this program was received and appreciated.
This is part of USP’s continued support to SPACS for delivering these worthy events all in the name of promoting computer literacy and ICT awareness.
