OPEN DAY a SUCCESS
The USP 2012 Open day was held at the Labasa Civic Centre on Friday 10th August 2012.
The decision to move the venue away from the Campus was based on the increased number interests not only from schools but from the general public.
The Chief Guest of this years USP Open Day for Labasa Campus is Dr Mohit Prasad, the Associate Dean (Research and Graduate Affairs), Faculty of Arts, Law and Education. Overall, the 2012 USP Open Day was a success and it continues to build its significance and popularity to the general public. This year more than 1,600 people visited all the booth and the majority were from the 9 large secondary schools in Labasa. Various government Departments and members of the public were also presence. For the first time we also have primary school students visiting various booths and participated in quiz competition organized by the Open Day Committee.
The presence of the representatives from the three Faculties adds more value and also creates significant impact on the choices that will be made by parents, teachers, guidance and students. Below are members of Faculties and Schools that took part in the Open Day.

Dr Mohit in his address emphasized the USP strategic plan and how this plan will have significant impact on the quality of higher education in the Northern Division.
The level of participation from the student association has also contributed to the success of the Open Day. The students performed 11 items with the mixture of modern and traditional dances which had captivated the attention of the students throughout the day.
