Selection Criteria

The University of the South Pacific is offering the “All-Rounder Scholarship” for regional athletes who would like to further their studies in their respective area of academic interest and be part of the USP Sports Program.

Candidates applying for the above scholarship must:

• Meet USP academic entry requirements and
• Satisfy the eligibility requirements below.

Candidates should:

• Understand that earning an academic qualification is the primary goal as a student athlete.
• Posses outstanding ability in a particular sport and will be expected to be an active member of the USP Sport Program for the term of the scholarship.
• Be a positive role model both on and off the playing field.

Eligibility
Students applying for the scholarship must meet the following eligibility criteria:

• Age of athlete should be normally between 17-30 years of age
  The candidate must present 2 letters of recommendations, 1 from his/her current coach and another from a sport administrator, who must be actively involved in a national or international sport organization.
• The National Olympic Committee or National Sports Federation must nominate the athlete in writing.
• The athlete must be identified as potentially of international level in his/her sport by providing appropriate information such as results, newspaper clippings or any other documentation.
• The athlete must pass a physical examination (medical) conducted by an approved qualified medical doctor in their respective countries.
• Must be a citizen of any of the USP member countries (Cook Islands, Fiji, Kiribati, Marshall, Nauru,  Niue, Samoa, Solomon, Tokelau, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu)
• The candidate must attend a series of interviews by the USP Scholarship screening Sub-committee
• The candidate must write a short essay explaining why he/she should be selected for the Program.
• The candidate must complete all appropriate forms (supplementary form and USP Admission form) and documents.
