Configuring for Banner 7 - Information Technology Services



Getting Started

Before you can start using the new Banner 7, you will need a few things first:

  • A browser with a Java Virtual Machine
  • The Java Runtime Environment (JRE)
  • Display settings set to 1024x768

Browser

Most if not all PCs that USP users have come with Internet Explorer 6 (IE6). If you already have IE6, confirm that your settings are correct by comparing against this IE6 guide, then simply install the JRE.

You can also optionally install Netscape that is a USP standard. After you install it you will need to configure it for the USP network, see our guide here.

Java Runtime Environment (JRE)

The new Banner 7 runs on Java. Java is "a simple platform-independent object-oriented programming language used for writing applets that are downloaded from the World Wide Web by a client and run on the client's machine".

Click here to download the JRE to your desktop. After downloading it, double-click the file on your desktop.

Accessing Banner 7

Now that the preliminaries are done, you can access Banner by clicking here.

After you click the above link, you will be presented with an option screen, of which you will select the indicated option:

After that the login screen for Banner will start, simply use your Banner login to get in, like this:
