Bachelor of Education (Special Education) - In Service

Admission Requirements:

To be admitted to a Bachelor of Education (Special & Inclusive Education) a person shall have:

  1. met the mature student admission criteria; or
  2. a USP Diploma in Special and Diverse Educational Needs (or equivalent); or
  3. a teaching training qualification from a recognised Teachers' Training institution; and
  4. at least three years' teaching experience, and
  5. a letter of recommendation from the head teacher of the school where the applicant was most recently employed.

Program Requirements:

The Bachelor of Education (Special & Inclusive Education) degree consists of 22 courses, of which eight are at 100-level, eight at 200-level and six (including the Practicum) at 300-level as listed below.

Courses:

UU100, UU114, ED100, ED115, ED116, ED152; plus ED182 or ED184; plus ED154, UU204, UU200, ED207, ED208, ED209, ED210, ED217, ED252, ED305, ED309, ED321, ED322, ED323, ED300.

Note:

  1. All students admitted with a USP Diploma in Special and Diverse Educational Needs will, on application, be awarded six cross-credits as follows: UU100, UU104, ED152, ED208, ED210, ED252.
  2. Those admitted on the basis of other qualifications may be eligible for up to six 100-level cross-credits.
  3. Those admitted on the basis of other qualifications should complete their remaining uncredited 100-level course, UU114, UU100 in the semester prior to starting their 200-level courses.
