Resources

Free and Open Source Software

USP FOSS Distribution is a repository of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS). It was developed by Rajneel Totaram of SCIMS, under the USP-IOSN Microgrant Programme in 2005.

There are so many Free and Open Source Software available that searching for relevant software of acceptable quality can be very time consuming. USP FOSS Distribution hopes to reduce the time spent on searching for relevant FOSS packages.

Developed especially for USP students and staff, the Distribution holds FOSS packages of acceptable quality, relevant to its targeted users. With all the files available on the local database, searching for and downloading of packages takes almost no time! The contents on the Distribution are periodically updated so the users are promised to get the most recent version of the FOSS packages.

The USP FOSS Distribution is a non-commercial, non-profitable entity.

Professional Societies

South Pacific Computer Society

SCIMS plays a major role in establishing and financially supporting this professional society. The past presidents were Dr. Dharmendra Sharma (formerly of SCIMS) and Dr. Muni Reddy (SCIMS).
