International Study Permit Procedures - Current Students



International Students Study Permit

A permit is required in order to study in Fiji; please do NOT apply for your permit through the Fijian consulate. After your place has been confirmed at USP, you should download the Application for Permit to Study/Research.

1.     Completing the application for a study permit
Please complete the appropriate pages of the form and ensure that the following items are included when you submit your form:

Note: All documents that are not in English are to be officially translated and submitted with originals.

2.    Submitting your application for a study permit

(a) Submitting your application directly to the Fiji Immigration Department:

You can send your application directly to The Director Fiji Immigration Department, C/- Mr Kalisi Sakuisa, P O Box 2244, Government Buildings, Suva. You are strongly advised to send your marked envelope via registered mail or courier service. You will then be required to make necessary visa application payment to Fiji Immigration Department within 14 days of your arrival date. The Immigration Department may require you to pay an immigration bond if your duration of study exceeds the validity of your return airline ticket. The bond will be refunded to you at the end of your stay in Fiji.

(b) Submitting your application through the USP International Office.

You may, if you wish, send your application to the USP International Office to submit your application to, and follow up with the Fiji Immigration Department on your behalf. You will be required to pay a non-refundable bond insurance and service fee of F$200 to the University of the South Pacific. You will not be required to pay an Immigration bond to Immigration as the University will provide a guarantee to the Fiji Immigration Department that it will ensure you comply with the conditions of your student permit

3. How do I pay?

If you choose to utilize the services of the USP International Office, the most convenient method of payment for you as an International student would be to wire transfer your FJ$530.00 (FJ$200 USP bond insurance and service fee and $330.00 Study Permit Application and Issue  Fee) payment through to the University of the South Pacific's bank account. Please ensure that you include FJ$20.00 for bank charge fee. Please contact the USP International office at international(at)usp.ac.fj for banking information required to make your wire transfer.

4. Submitting your application for a study permit extension

(International students who are currently registered but whose permits have expired before the completion of their official program are requested to submit their application to the USP International Office.
