Talanga: The School of Education Seminar Series Presentation Title: Tools for interaction in a Virtual Learning Environment - What does the data say? Presenter: Ms. Shikha Raturi, Assistant Lecturer, School of Education, Faculty of Arts, Law and Education, University of the South Pacific, Suva, Fiji. Abstract:Interaction is considered as one of the key component in virtual learning environments (VLE). Educators around the world agree that interaction with engagement results in meaningful learning. With an increase in the number of tools, (online) educators/ technology adapters get overwhelmed with the choices they have to make. A group of learners were introduced to a variety of tools for interaction for 14 weeks followed by a survey to gauge their perception and preference. An inspired learner with bandwidth challenges still manages active learning albeit with some frustrating moments. This is ‘work in progress’ but the researcher would like to report some of the findings in order to keep the community informed of opportunities and challenges in VLEs.
