USP has for many years now offered the Vice Chancellors prize for a graduate with a Grade Point Average of 3.0 or more, who has an outstanding record of involvement with, or contribution to, USP academic and non-academic activities, and also an outstanding record of involvement with, or contribution to, a community or communities in the USP region
To be considered for this prize, you need to actively involve yourself in social and cultural activities at USP which promote racial integration and harmony, provide quality leadership to students, and help USP administration in its interaction with students. You should also step out into your community and actively involve yourself in projects or programs that are of benefit to the community as a whole. You must also have strong references to support this!
Gold medals and money prizes are also offered to graduates with outstanding results in individual programs (both undergraduate and postgraduate) and in particular disciplines. You need to get the highest GPA in your program or discipline in order to be assured of a prize and medal. Those with a GPA of 4 or more are normally considered with the student with the highest GPA being the recipient of the award.Each Faculty has a medal and prize for overall outstanding academic performance in their undergraduate programs, and the University has a medal and prize for the most outstanding performance in the postgraduate programs. Presentation ceremonies are held in April of each year before the Laucala Campus graduation ceremony. All students that graduate in September and December of the previous year as well as those graduating in April will be considered for medals and prizes.
