FAREWELL: With regret the Division of Psychology farewells Dr. Johnny Decatoria who joined USP in April 2006. Unfortunately, Dr. Decatoria has had to return to Manila unexpectedly for family and health reasons. Dr. Johnny’s professional input into the Division of Psychology in general and the Counseling Program in particular has been much appreciated and will be missed by staff and students. We wish him well in his future endeavors along with a speedy recovery to better health.

WELCOME: We welcome Ms.Tima Tuvuki [BSc., M.Soc.Sc. (Hons. Psychology), Waikato] as a temporary Assistant Lecturer in psychology, and Ms. Miriama Raikoti-Saro [B.Beh.Sc., Griffith Univ.; MBA, USP] as a temporary tutor-marker in psychology. Tima will be located in H337, Ext.32594, while Miriama will be sharing H305, Ext. 32100 with our GA in Psychology Ms. Akisi Kasami. The Division of Psychology and the School of Social Sciences we welcome Tima and Miriama back to Fiji and congratulate Akisi on her GA scholarship. We trust they will soon feel at home within our USP community.

This welcome extends to Ms. Smita Singh (GA Politics and International Affairs), Ms. Zena Sherani (GA Sociology and Socail Work) and Mr. Setoki Qalubau (GA- History) on receiving their GA scholarships. They join Ms. Shashim Sharma (GA- History).

The School and the Division of History also welcome Valerie Campbell who is teaching HY204 (Introduction to Archaeology in the Pacific) this semester. Valerie agreed to stand-in at a week’s notice when other arrangements to offer this course fell through. Her office is SO40 in the former Land Management wing of the FBE building and her extension is 32509.

THANKYOU: We also wish to acknowledge the professional generosity of Mary Montu of USP Counseling Services who has agreed to temporarily coordinate PS211 with the assistance of Ms Raikoti-Saro. Mary’s experience and input into the counseling program is much appreciated and continues a tradition of close cooperation and assistance between the Division’s academic staff and our service providers in this area.
