English Language Skills Assessment (ELSA)



English Language Skills Assessment (ELSA) is a diagnostic test that test the English language proficiency for university level studies thus all new USP degree students must sit ELSA. The purpose of ELSA is to give all students the opportunity to acquire the English language skills needed for successful university studies.

ELSA is a two hour test with three sections: Vocabulary/Grammar, Reading, and Writing. Section 1 consists of 2 vocabulary and grammar tasks, Section 2 consists of  8 reading tasks based on 2 reading texts,  and Section 3 comprises of two writing tasks: a report on given information and an essay.
