SOE monitors its early childhood, primary, secondary, and tertiary teacher education programs to meet the current and emerging educational and developmental goals of the Pacific island nations. It has developed its Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood, Bachelor of Education in Special and Inclusive Education and Bachelor of Education for primary and secondary untrained teachers. The latter is taken in three phases: certificate, diploma, and degree. Moreover, the existing certificate, diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate teacher education programs at pre-service and in-service levels are continuously rationalized and developed to ensure that they incorporate Pacific values, ethics, knowledge systems and indigenous pedagogy where possible. It also takes into account best and ‘smart’ practices developed regionally and globally.
