Savusavu Centre - Labasa Campus |
The USP Savusavu Study Centre is situated in the centre of Savusavu Town. It was officially opened on the 26th of November, 2005 by the Chairman of the Advisory Committee Northern, Mr. Sitiveni Rabuka. The centre comes under USP Labasa Campus. There are currently four staff members working at the centre.The Centre Coordinator is Mr Sairusi Lui, formerly from FIT learning Centre in Suva.
The centre was established to cater for the increasing number of students from the Cakaudrove Province and Kubulau in the Bua Province. It is primarily for the purpose of accessing programmes through the DFL mode and Continuing Education. The centre offers counseling services, e-mail and internet facilities and will be offering satellite services (audio and video broadcast) in semester 2/2005.
The centre currently comprises an administration department, one computer lab and video broadcasting room, satellite operator room, audio satellite room, lecture room and a library. Currently the centre has about 150 students registered under the DFL mode with Savusavu centre and nearby Centres. Our IT programmes, Certificate and Advanced Certificate in IT is introduced through Continuing Education with 15 computers all connected to the Internet.
