General Services Fee - Current Students

General Services Fee

The General Services Fee (GSF) is a compulsory fee that all students of the University of the South Pacific have to pay once they have registered for unit(s).

There are two categories of students that are charged the GSF: those studying on-campus at Alafua, Emalus or Laucala, and those studying at one of the regional campuses.

The charge for students studying at Alafua, Emalus or Laucala is based on whether you are studying full or part-time. Students studying part-time are charged approximately 70% of the full time fee. Note that the definition of full and part-time is not based on your mode of study, but on the number of courses that you undertake.

Paying this fee entitles you to use campus facilities (all day or during scheduled hours) and for Laucala Campus students a portion of this is given to the USPSA (University of the South Pacific Student Association) and the CRC (Community Recreation Centre).

Students who are studying through regional campuses are charged a different GSF, which entitles students to utilise the facilities provided at the campus. Students studying through regional campuses should check with their local campus about how much they are required to pay.

Students who fail to pay this fee by the due date (which is the same date as the payment of tuition fees) will automatically be placed on “hold” and their student accounts deactivated meaning you will not be allowed to access school facilities, services and equipment.

Note that certain sponsors and provident funds do not pay the General Services Fee. If you are sponsored or seeking assistance from a provident fund you should check whether or not you will have to pay the GSF yourself privately.
