CAMPUS STUDENT WINS GOLD
PAULA VADIGA who was a distance and flexible student at Labasa campus has won gold medal on 11th April 2008 graduation ceremony for Bachelor of Arts in Landuse Planning and Real Estate. Paula has shared his story on his academic success and the challenges he faced during study as DFL student from 1995 -1997 ; 2002-2005.
CHALLENGES
- SELF TAUGHT – DETERMINATION
How determine are you? You should have the will to do things.
- TIME – IS AN ESSENCE: how you spent your time is a perfect example of your determination.
- LACK OF RESOURCES: Library
- AVAILABILITY OF TUTORS: Once a week or every two weeks.
- I used to have the concept of just passing. Not really caring about the grades until 2005 when GE 102- Tutor’s advice.
OVERCOME
You have to PLAN: Very important to balance your time. Apart from Studies.
PEER GROUPS: Very important. Only realize this on my 2nd last year of DFL – Doing LL114
Something you know your peers don’t know and something your peers know you don’t know.

This strengthens your confidence on the concept of the study. Sharing builds up your knowledge.

Work towards your goal: Constant self monitoring:
COURSE WORK PLANNER : Helps in monitoring.
STUDY GROUPS: Go in with an open mind if you don’t agree with a concept, speak out with justification.
Prepare questions before going for a study group meeting.
