Diploma in Education (Secondary)

This programme will only be offered as special country projects - meeting specific national needs with particular cohorts in a country. Countries must secure funding for the diploma to be offered as a project.

Admission Requirements:

To be admitted to the Diploma in Teaching (Secondary) a person shall have:

  1. completed the requirements for a USP Certificate in Teaching (Secondary); or
  2. at least a three year secondary teaching experience as untrained teacher
  3. a letter of recommendation from the respective principal

Note:
The Diploma in Teaching (Secondary) will be a staircase into the Bachelor of Education (Secondary - In Service) Programme. The programme consists of 14 courses including the eight required courses for the Certificate in Teaching (Secondary).

Programme Requirements:

The Diploma in Education (Secondary) consists of 14 courses 

Courses:

UU114, UU100, ED153; plus select two 100-level for the intended teaching subject major from those listed for the Bachelor of Education (Secondary); plus ED152, ED170; plus LL161 or LL171 or another South Pacific Vernacular Language studied at a comparable tertiary level; plus UU204, UU200, ED250; plus two 200 level courses from each teaching discipline listed for the Bachelor of Education (Secondary) In-service degree; plus a three week practicum experience.
