Course Design and Development

Course development categories

There are four course development categories in Course Design & Development.

New (N)
A course is new if it’s offered for the first time through the Distance & Flexible Learning (DFL) mode. It could be a course that is already offered through the Face to Face mode and require adaptation to DFL offering or a course that is offered in USP for the first time but directly offered through DFL.

Revised (R)
For a revised course, you are making major revisions (e.g. updating, restructuring, extending) to a course written or revised several years ago. Similar to a new course, you work as part of the course team through a comprehensive course development process.

Minor Adjustments (MA)
For minor adjustments, you are making small, necessary corrections to a course that was new or revised in the previous year. Many of these corrections may arise as a result of the practical experience of running the course for the first time.

Unrevised (U)
For an unrevised course, you are only writing new assignments for the course for the coming semester and providing any other updated material needed for the Introduction and Assignments book. The majority of the course components for the course do not change.
