Mr. Lako joined the School of Management and Public Administration (SMPA) from the beginning of Semester 1, 2005 as part-time Tutor and Marker until his appointment as Tutor in the beginning of Semester 1, 2009. He became Assistant Lecturer at the beginning of Semester 1, 2011.
Mr. Lako was working for Fiji’s public sector for 13 years. As a former Labour Officer he has worked in all departments within the Ministry of Labour whilst undertaking studies for Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety management (1998 - VIOSH, University of Ballarat, Australia), Diploma in Industrial Relations and Personnel Management (2000 – USP) and Bachelors of Arts Degree with double major in Management & Public Administration and Industrial Relations (2001 – USP). He was appointed Corporate Services Manager with PAFCO in 2002 and was responsible for human resources, industrial relations, Occupational Health and Safety, Payroll, Public Relations, Logistics, Laundromat, Day Care Center and Medical Services. He graduated with Postgraduate Diploma in Management & Public Administration (2005 – USP) after which he was appointed as Research Associate with the Employment and Labor Market Studies (ELMS) Programme under the School of Economics (funded by EU) until May 2007.
He was than awarded a Graduate Assistant (GA) scholarship programme from USP (SMPA), to complete his Masters of Arts Programme in 2008 after which he pursed Graduate Certificate in Tertiary Teaching (GCTT) programme in 2010. His research interest lies within the diversified field of human resources and employment relations as well as gender issues within the Pacific region.
Currently coordinating MG204 in a hybrid mode for Solomons Island and Lautoka Campuses.
